The Sacrament of Confirmation is a celebration of the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is given to us in a personal way as a Sacrament of Initiation. The Holy Spirit comes to us and empowers us to bear witness to Christ by what we say, what we do, and to help us make good choices as a disciple of Jesus. Our hope is that the process of Confirmation preparation helps each person prepare his or her mind and heart to receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
Our Confirmation process begins as early as 8th grade. We follow the Archdiocese of Santa Fe Comprehensive Youth Ministry model. The first stage of confirmation is as a Learner. This stage is followed as early as 9th grade by the Disciple in Training phase. It is during the Disciple in Training phase where youth make the decision to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The process does not end there! We continue the Confirmation process after Confirmation with the Disciple in Ministry phase where those youth who have received Confirmation are supported and encouraged to continue their faith and service to the Body of Christ.

Adult Confirmation classes are offered for adults (18+) who have been baptized and received First Eucharist in the Roman Catholic Church. You should be attending Mass regularly and be registered at St. John XXIII Catholic Community in Albuquerque, NM. If your reason for pursuing the Sacrament of Confirmation at this time is because you have been asked to be a baptismal godparent, that is wonderful! Please remember being a godparent comes with the responsibility to live your faith which includes, minimally, remaining a Catholic in good standing and attending Mass weekly.
Adults who would like to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and have not been Baptized or received First Holy Communion, should join the process of RCIA (The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). For more information on RCIA, please click here.
There is no fee for the course. We use your giving from Mass to pay for these programs. If you would like to sign up to give online go to https://www.osvhub.com/johnxxiiicc/funds.
In order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, you will need to provide a current baptism certificate from the parish where you were baptized. Please contact them ASAP. You may have them mail it to you or to:
