Join us today!

The Worship Standing Committee is the decision making body that serves the community by planning, and evaluating the quality of our liturgical celebrations, especially the Sunday Masses. We coordinate training sessions with Ministries, Environment and Music Sub-committees. The membership for the Worship Committee is comprised of any interested parishioners who would like to contribute their time, talent and services as we enhance our worship service so that it becomes part of our daily life. The Worship Committee will also arrange: workshops, concerts, seasonal liturgies and celebrations as opportunities arise.

Membership for the Worship Committee is comprised of any interested parishioners who would like to contribute their time, talent, and service as we build on a worship service that leaves us making that time a part of our life for the day and the week.

  Goals and Objectives

•  To provide a positive worship experience for all through a consistent quality of liturgy. This will be accomplished through efficient use of resources and understanding by all ministers of their role.
•  To work closely with the Religious Formation Standing Committee, Social Concerns Standing Committee, Youth Standing Committee and Pastoral Commission to enhance special liturgies sponsored by these committees. This will be accomplished through joint planning, preparation, and communication among the committees and Directors.
•  To provide support and assistance to the Ministries, Environment and Music Subcommittees. This will be accomplished through defining their roles in planning, preparation, and implementation of liturgy.
•  Provide continued liturgical education for all ministers and community. This will be accomplished through: workshops, missions, training, etc.

Ministries

The Ministries Subcommittee oversees the following community ministries:
Eucharistic Ministers:  These are the volunteers distributing Communion to the congregation at Mass and also taking Communion to the home bound.
•  Lectors:  Lectors proclaim the readings to the assembly so that we can be spirit filled and understand the full message Jesus has for us.
Altar Servers:  These ministers of our community assist Father in the celebration of the Mass. They carry the light of Christ into church as we begin our celebration, hold the light as the Gospel is being read so that the work will shine on us, and lead the way to the altar as our offerings are taken up.
Ushers:  These are the first people we see as we enter the church. They assist with seating, the collection, locating the parishioners needing assistance, directing the Eucharistic Ministers to the parishioners unable to go up to Communion and last but not least, hand out the ever so important bulletin.

Environment

The Environment Sub-committee work includes, but is not limited to, creating a quality and appropriate liturgical environment. They incorporate colorful flowers, trees, banners, drapes, lighting, art, slides and props to compliment the season, theme and mood for our community. This sub-committee also launders and irons the altar linens. During the special seasons of the liturgical year, they provide additional decorations in order to place the community in the specific season and time.

Music

The Music Sub-committee plays an important part in the celebration of the liturgy. Various parts of the Mass are traditionally and purposefully sung, including the Responsorial Psalm, the Gospel Acclamation, the Memorial Acclamation, etc. We sing other parts of the Mass to enhance our worship experience. This may include an opening and recessional hymn, and an offertory and Communion hymn.
This also incorporates Audio/Visual A/V volunteers make sure we have the slides so that we can participate at Mass, They take care of the sound so that we can hear the priest, deacon, lectors and choir and they give the light we need to enjoy the celebration.

As well as working with the Sub-committees we will assist:

Children's Liturgy

children"The Children's Liturgy allows the children of the community an opportunity to learn about the Mass, participate in the Mass, and become active members of the community. These children are led by an adult member of our community, getting them involved in their own choir, being lectors, ushers, and altar servers for their Mass. They lead the Children's Easter Mass, Christmas Mass, First Communion Mass and First Reconciliation Service. Also, during the year they lead several Sunday Children's Masses.

Youth Liturgy

fishThe Youth Ministry is part of the Youth Standing Committee. This group focuses on coordinating and training the youth who participate in the Mass to be lectors, altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, ushers, sound and projection operators and gift bearers. A newest aspect of this ministry will include drama, music and dance. This gives the youth ownership in the liturgy as well as being active in their community.

They also assist Pastoral Commission as the need may arise.
